It was great camping and great racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for Race Three of the NHKA Series on June 2nd and 3rd. Blake took first place against a field of five tough competitors in the LO 206 Senior class.
Blake hit the parade route this past weekend for the Wellesley Wonderful Weekend annual Veteran's Parade and Celebration. Thanks to the great crew at Roadside Rescue of Needham Blake and his kart got a first class lift on their flatbed down the Washington Street parade route. After the parade, Blake set up his kart at the Hunnewell Field Carnival at the booth of his wonderful sponsor "Wellesley Dental Group." Lot of kids were able to get their photo taken in the #95 and ask Blake questions about his kart and about kart racing. Earlier in the weekend, Blake participated in theWellesley Car Show along with dozens of other cars.
Blake had his first race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon on Saturday May 6th. It was great to race at an official NASCAR venue for the first time. The wet weather meant Blake and his CF Motorsports pit crew had to make plenty of last minute adjustments to the kart's engine and tires. But despite that, Blake finished the road course in first place, putting him 2 for 2 for this season.

When Wellesley Middle Schooler Blake Lothian drives his custom-built go-kart in next month’s 49th annual Wellesley Veterans’ Parade, the 14-year-old will need to do all he can to slow himself down.
In among the old-timey cars and assorted town vehicles will be Lothian’s sweet ride, which has been adjusted to hit speeds of up to 70mph for the NHKA Racing series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Canaan Motor Speedway in which Lothian is racing vs. adults for the first time.
Lothian has been racing go-karts since the age of 5 and earlier this month he swept the F1 Boston Junior League Championship in Braintree, taking the checkered flag in the finals and earning a second gold trophy for racking up the most points for the winter season. He also pulled off a win in his first senior league race this past weekend in New Hampshire.
Lothian has been racing in F1 Boston Indoor and Outdoor Leagues for the past few years, and winning plenty. But he really took things up a notch last year by saving money (and soliciting Wellesley business sponsors) to buy a high-performance go-kart that he customized with the help ofmechanics at CF Motorsports after school and on weekends.
His #1 Briggs and Stratton LO206 kart withstood track temperatures of well over 100 degrees last summer as well as held its own during torrential rain over Columbus Day weekend. For a kid with ambitions to hit the NASCAR circuit some day, learning to deal with all sorts of conditions has been a valuable lesson.
You can get a more of a look at Lothian’s car, stats and back story at his Blake Lothian Racing website, and come Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend, his car will be not just in the parade, but at the annual car show at Wellesley Community Center and at Hunnewell Field for the pre-fireworks picnic. Blake’s mom, Cindy, says she hopes the exposure will encourage more local kids to get involved in junior racing
It was lots of fun and good racing in Canaan, New Hampshire this weekend for Blake at the season opener of the NHKA 2017 Outdoor Racing Series. Blake raced his new and improved kart for the first time under his new number #95. This was also Blake's first time racing in the LO 206 Seniors class. He received the second fastest qualifying time of 48.005. Despite some tough competition, Blake finished in first place. More importantly he got to meet and spend time with a great group of racers. Hats off to the NHKA for putting together a great opening race day!
On Saturday, Blake was awarded two Gold trophies for winning the finals race and for racking up the most points over the winter season. Blake has been working hard on upgrading his kart for the NHKA Series where he will be racing in the Senior LO 206 league. His first race is Saturday, April 22nd at Canaan Motor Speedway. Blake's new kart number in New Hampshire will be 95, the same number as one of his up and coming NASCAR favorites.
Blake wrapped up the last race of the season with 29 points and one more fast lap point. This puts him in the front of the pack with 186 points. Blake is looking forward to the league finals in two weeks on Saturday April 15th at F1 Boston in Braintree. Blake is also getting ready for his first outdoor season with the NHKA in New Hampshire. Over the next few weeks he will be working with his team at the CF Motorsports Shop making modifications to his kart to get it ready for the summer outdoor race season.
With the F1 Indoor Spring Finals a little more than a month away, Blake expanded his lead this Saturday in the 1A league to 157 points. In three rounds Blake finished first, third and fifth, also racking up two more fast lap points. Blake also clocked the fastest lap of the day at 20.092 seconds on the city course. Blake races one more time on April 1st in Round Seven before the finalson April 15th.
This week Blake expanded his first place lead in the F1 Indoor Winter Series. Despite a computer glitch in the current F1 league standings web page, Blake maintained his first place position in the 1A league jumping from 103 points to 130 total points. Blake chalked up another fast lap point this week for a total of 7 fast lap points for the season. Blake clocked his fastest lap at 15.75 seconds.
